While talking to a colleague, I might have had a slip of tongue and overshared. And now it's making me upset.

We were talking about children, and she talks about her child a lot. Now I don't have any children, so I resorted to talking about my youngest sibling. And we were talking about how fast they grow up if they're around adults, and I said something like "yep she's the least traumatized of us all, and she's the closest to being normal, to the point she seems far from being my sister."
And as soon as I said it, I felt a hot flush of embarrassment in my face. Ugghhh. She didn't respond and kept looking at her phone and I quickly changed the topic.

Ugghhhh. I was doing so well with the small talk. I always ruin every conversation I have.

The nature of small talk is that people don't think about it much.

You should try not to, too!

You just need a different environment i think. You need people that can relate to you. I try to avoid people who are to sheltered b3cause theyvjust dont understand life.

Yeah, you probably overshared. Your comments opened the door to a whole lot of other personal questions. But you didn’t do anything awful, so stop beating yourself up. 🙂
