What am I working for?

That's a typical question a lot of young people ask. "What am I working for?" Well the best thing I could tell you this what you're working for is money what that money buys is your future retirement your house your boat your car your wife's ring your children's education your children's toys your toys your wife's toys and I'm not talking about the sex toys!

You're working for your life insurance for your wife's life insurance, no you don't get to eliminate her! Your children's insurance things happen to little kids sadly enough and that is what you're working for.

As it said even though to live for today you should always plan for tomorrow and the future. Or that which is below. It's good stuff.

The problem is that you need to convince people who are currently working 2/3 jobs and with that they can barely get to the end of the month with a net zero balance between income and expenses, while living the most frugal life possible.

So the question remains. If retirement, cars, boats, marriages, let alone kids are off the table, what are we even working for?

@Elessar Only about 5 percent of employed workers hold multiple jobs, and at least 50 percent of those have a full-time job plus a part-time job.

https://research.stlouisfed.org/publications/employment-research/whos-working-multiple-jobs#:~:text=Only%20about%205%20percent%20of,plus%20a%20part%2Dtime%20job.

So this leads one to wonder of the people that are complaining about the lack of wages or promotions or advancement. Because you're looking at a very small fragment of the working population.

@Disgustedman 5% is 1 every 20, it's not really a small figure. In a country of 100mln people, it's 5 millions. In a country of 300, it's 15mln.

Besides, that only accounts those who have a second or third registered/legal job, at least where I am jobs besides the main one are rarely if ever legal.
Disgustedman · 61-69, M
@Elessar then they're only screwing themselves out of retirement funds and benefits.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Disgustedman Agreed, but it's usually not a choice of the worker.
Disgustedman · 61-69, M
@Elessar yes it is the choice of the worker. They made a choice to accept work that wasn't legal they made that choice in their heart.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Disgustedman The alternative is starving or being evicted, is it really a choice?
Disgustedman · 61-69, M
@Elessar oh so people have to work illegally to afford an apartment or to buy food? Spare me there's more than enough charity food being handed out daily to feed thousands of people, So don't start with "oh they're going to starve or they're going to be evicted!" that's poppycock grabbing at straws you just don't want to admit it that they have a choice do it right or don't.
