I'm so over the way the world works 😂. Especially job interviews. Like this is how it would go if I allowed myself to be honest

Them: So why should we hire you?

Me: Well, I'm dependable. I think that's more than enough for you to hire me. This is just a McDonald's anyway.

Then: can you elaborate on that?

Me: Elaborate on what exactly?

Them: on dependable.

Me: Sure I'll elaborate on the definition of dependable since you seem to be too stupid to know what the word means

Them: ...okay I think we're done here

Me: Okay, have a nice day.

When an employer asks "can you elaborate on that?" That means they didn't prepare for the interview and are BSing questions. The key to any interview is to kind of hijack the conversation and steer it in a direction that results in you getting a job and more money. So you really need like 3 things that are good about you with a story you can tell. So like when they ask why they should hire you and you said because you are dependable. When they asked can you elaborate, you should have told a story about a time when you came through for the team then follow it up with a question. So like "Can you elaborate on that?" "Yes, one time someone called out of work unexpectedly and I volunteered to work a double shift. While I was on that shift, I saw that a new team member was struggling and I was able to train them on ____. Will there be opportunities for me to step into a leadership role in this position? If so, what requirements will I need to meet?" (Then you write down what those requirements are.) The trick is to get them to stop asking you questions and have a general conversation.
