The last cat I had was crazy for flowers. She would put her face down into them and inhale the fragrance. I moved to an apartment with a patio and bought concrete blocks and lined the edge of the patio with them and planted flowers in each hole, morning glories one year and other smaller blooming flowers the rest of the years plus had flower pots. Every day after I planted them I would come home from work and she begged to go out on the patio and would go down the line and sniff each flower and as the flowers increased in number she spent more time sniffing them. It was her daily ritual. I bought an amaryllis bulb in the winter and started it. It had the most beautiful pink flowers. I saw her looking at it and asked if she wanted to smell and she stuck her entire face in the bloom and inhaled. When she died ( a few years later) but a few days later after that on a Saturday morning I walked through my bedroom and smelled the most beautiful bouquet of flowers. It was in January, nothing blooming outside and no plants inside. I hadn’t sprayed any perfume or air fresheners either. Then I thought of my cat and how much she loved flowers and I felt a sense of peace after that. 💐🌺🐱🌻🌷
