Using alum block (potassium alum) as a deodorant works wonders. It kills the bacteria living on skin. But some people might be allergic to it and people with failing or non functioning kidneys shouldn't use it at all.

@Fishy I never heard about the magnesium one but what I found doesn't look like it. Alum block is 100% potassium alum in a crystal brick that you have to moisturize with water.
I just read that aluminum gets out of body thanks to kidneys so someone with a severe kidney disease might not be able to filter it out and it would built up in a body as neurotoxins. I'm not sure how much could possibly get into a body when using topically though.
But it's definitely safer than aluminum- based antiperspirant sprays.
