Went home early without approval

My periods are absolutely miserable because of endometriosis, a growth in my uterus, and cysts on my ovaries. I have medical documentation that supports this, and I have made it clear to my company that it can be debilitating during my period.

Today the pain was so bad that I went pale, got cold sweats, and felt like I was going to pass out. I tried to hang in there. I focused on my calls, and as I took the calls, I did some diamond art because usually that makes me very calm and zen. Not this time.

I waited in agony til my company sent out the usual emails offering for people with certain skill sets (I am included) to leave early. As soon as I got the email, I put in my request for an early out. It was denied. So I sent a request to leave at a slightly later time. Denied.

Finally I had had enough. I emailed my supervisor to let her know I was in pain and needed to leave despite being denied the early out. I shut down my computer, clocked out, went home.

One thing I'm NOT gonna do is allow my job to impede my health. It's already a stressful job, I get more calls than ANYONE, and I will not be forced to stay there when I am feeling as miserable as I felt. They don't own me.

Good for you. I struggled with that type of pain and symptoms for years. Don't push through to. Go home to your heating pads, try at least to get comfortable, always. My mom would give me strong precipitation opiates and they didn't always work for the pain but they would at least make it so I could sleep through it
Good for you. A job is not worth your health.

And that is rough. I had an ex who had severe endometriosis and it was horrific only being able to sit there and watch them in pain. Can't imagine what going through that is like.
I would've done the same thing.

Employers can't force you to work if you're sick.

Is there no effective treatment?

@Muthafukajones not for the endometriosis.

@aboveaverageaveragejoe do I want to lose my job? No of course not. But am I going to prioritize my health over my job? Absolutely every time.
