Cervical screening

I really don't agree with this change, 3 years there can be changes now they have changed it to every 5 years it maybe too late by then.

Me either,or thd fact that it is only accessible if you are 25 and over. I remember I was scheduled for one when I had just turned 19 and I walked into the clinic only to be turned away. I ended up privately paying for one which was at the cost of around £80. The thing about hpv is that it can basically harbour in the body at any age since a person is sexually active ,which on average is nearly a decade before the age women can publicly access that in the uk. It is just another nuisance on cutting down investments on public healthcare by the government. Remember who the government is when you vote next time. Also a disgrace to Papanicolaou who dedicated his entire life on making that life saving diagnostic tool accessible for females

Here in the uk thats what it's like.
I think they were trying to lower the age they start.
I am meant to have one soon, I hate it. If they need to do it more often then I would.

@Beautywithin she's the only one at that practice 😱

It's due to American healthcare act. Government doesn't want to pay for services rendered so they change the quality of care saving the money in the long run. Welcome to government run healthcare.

the statistics, cost benefit, were looked at by the US Prevention Task Force. The risk of damage from false positives, and the cost of the procedure led to the change. The us of the HPV vaccine should probably result in a further spreading of examinations, if the vaccine proves as effective as it appears to be.

Do it if not for you do it for others

@Beautywithin maybe it’s population control. This is a silent killer
Beautywithin · 36-40, F
@Madmonk Exactly my thoughts

@Beautywithin I think that a woman and her doctor should decide but at minimum she should get tested annually once she is sexually active
It's been every 5 years for as long as I can remember... it never did me any harm...

Can you just request?
Beautywithin · 36-40, F
@SW-User no you cant if you had symptoms as such they may look into it but then would need to go private I'd imagine
SW-User
@Beautywithin I was curious. There was reason I led with 'can' instead of 'can't' I have probably denied some screening I could have at my age, but in general men are screened later (maybe for reason)?

@Beautywithin Screening is a very good thing. I lost someone to cancer.

But it is based on scientific evidence😒
Rilyn · 31-35, F
So you do the screening routinely?
MyNameIsHurl · 41-45, F
