Why do they do this? [I Am Trying to Lose Weight]

Often the very people that nag you about losing weight are the ones who walk into your house with a pizza with all your favorite toppings on it or a big box of your favorite pastries two days after you finally start your diet. They bug you to eat the very foods they're telling you not to eat. They argue with you saying things like, "Just ONCE won't hurt!" Or, "Come on, it's a special occasion!" (Ground Hog Day?) Or my favorite, "It's Jane's birthday and we are all having a piece!" (As if calories don't count if eaten in a group setting with social approval.) Why do the very people who lecture you about your weight do everything they can to throw you off your diet when you actually attempt to lose the excess weight?

they are sabotaging your diet because of jealousy or envy or God only knows what reason. My ex husband would make stupid remarks about my weight & when I’d diet & lose a good amount he’d start sabotaging it by bringing chocolate or whatever in the house. I got to where I wouldn’t peep that I was on a diet, I would eat what appeared a normal amount of food for dinner when we ate together but it was heavy on the light veggies & less meat etc. I’d walk for miles when he wasn’t around. After losing enough weight that someone he worked with would make a remark he would come home & start being emotionally abusive. I could never win with him & any progress I made for myself would be challenged with hatefulness because of it.
@cherokeepatti I am sorry you had to go through that.

@justberniegirl I believe now that he was narcissistic. Made him insecure if anything good happened to me even if it was just losing weight.
