My first visit to the dentist:

On discussing the background on my poor oral hygiene, I mentioned a history of depression where I had stopped showering and getting out of bed for days and days on end for a couple years, and stopped eating except for chai, and chai + not brushing my teeth had ruined my mouth. He asked me what happened, and I couldn't bring myself to pronounce any of it because suddenly there was a rock inside my throat and my heart sank having to recall all of it. So I just stuttered and couldn't say anything. So he told me he was from a dysfunctional family too so no worries, and so I told him a little about it and he told me that I was extremely strong to get out of that place inside my brain and to be a functional human being with a job. He told me that I have done more and reached farther than the stars, because unlike many other people competing for the same position, I had to swim up heavy layers of the ocean and then climb up from sea level, while others started sea level. And that brought tears in my eyes because my parents hadn't celebrated me the way this stranger celebrated me in just a couple sentences.
