Rainy Day Off

I am in the middle of a week-long staycation. It is raining and gray, so I went to the mall.

It is pretty empty now. I stopped in the little animal shelter/store, and I was the only customer!

Most of the cats were sound asleep, though. Yet two kittens were awake. They wanted to play, reaching through the bars to try and touch me. But contact is not allowed, to combat disease spread. Sigh. I had to use cat toys. So much fun!

Now I am longing in the mall atrium in a comfy leather chair near the fountain pool. Nice sound.

So, this is what retirement is like?

I hope you can relax today with fountains, or kitties, or other soothing things.

There are other chairs near me, plenty of room for more. And lots of cats to adopt. And rats, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, and rabbits! So, won't you join me, at least in spirit?

Take care.

I got breakfast before I went to the mall.

I took in a stray cat once, since it was snowy out and it followed me to my door. I put up "cat found" notices around the neighborhood. But got no calls. I also got food and a litter box. The cat settked in. I kept it for about two weeks.

Then I learned my rent would go up, if I kept it. And it would have to stay inside. Also, I really did not want the responsibility, and to keep it inside its whole life. I hate litter boxes. So gross. Also, I was allergic, but it was not as bad this time.

I was afraid to take it to a shelter, since they might have euthanized it if never got adopted. So I put it outside, hoping it would find its way home. I put the litter box in front of the dumpster, and tossed the food.

I never saw it again.

That was long ago. I am sure it passed away already, even if it lived long.

I will never do that again, unless I have a house with land, where it is warm, and can let it out, and it would be outside most of the time.

I cried after. It was a little cruel, I know.
