Surely by now no-one should so confused about it.
The answer comes down to very simple physics.
The term "global warming" is a rather poor one for climate-change; but a mean, worldwide rise in atmospheric and sea temperatures of even only a couple of degrees Celsius, indicates a vast increase in the heat available to drive weather systems.
Further, as the adjective "mean" shows, the heat and temperature distributions, and rates of change, are not uniform around the globe.
Hence irregular seasons, unseasonably cold or hot, wet or dry weather; and more frequent, more severe individual weather events.

@ArishMell Sorry old sod but that is nonsense. Climate change is simply a euphemism for AGW. It is simply the same pile of nonsense in a different wrapper. None of it can be shown to be happening let alone to be attributed to anything man is doing or could do to change things. Climate changes. It has since the earth was formed. It always will change. Nothing we can do to change the future weather events. Nor should we want to. A question I always ask the members of the AGW crowd is "What is the ideal temperature that we should be aiming at". Strangely I have never had a straight answer. The power elites are trying to start another panic. "Its all man's fault" is their mantra. Silly people. Stop heating your house to appease the weather god. Snort.

@hippyjoe1955 The only AWG I have ever seen stands for American Wire Gauge, so I don't know you mean by it.
I'll leave others to read that lot and judge it; but will answer your question about "ideal" - your word, no-one else's.
Humanity and wildlife have been accustomed to fairly constant climate, weather, ice-cover and sea-level by latitude and region for centuries, possibly the last few millennia, with only small oscillations.
No-one is calling for an "ideal" temperature but for that near-stasis to be maintained; the conditions that prevailed prior to being changed significantly and artificially since the start of the Industrial Revolution, certainly with the last 150 years.
How we maintain it is a different matter, since it is becoming clear that there are no easy answers without environmental, economic, political and social problems of their own.

@ArishMell So we are going to destroy ourselves to keep what we already have in case the weather god gets mad and changes things on us again? Does that even make sense?
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Errr. Eh? No - we are trying to stop destroying ourselves.
We all know you don't believe in climate-change, or at least that wrought by human activity. You make no secret of saying so, and quite bluntly. However, if we look further ahead still, beyond your and my allotted spans of which I hope we still have plenty left, the natural resources on which we had all relied for so long are not going to be available any more; by choice or by depletion.
, I think that is going to be even more of a challenge. Already the drive to stop using crude-oil seems to ignore its uses well beyond as a source of fuels.
Seems all going to Hell but the choice is by hand-cart or wheelbarrow.

@ArishMell The agenda of the elites who are using AGW as a weapon is to destroy humanity. Not sure how you missed something that obvious.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Well, that's possible, since I don't know what your abbreviation AGW stands for, and I don't know your definition of "elites".
Nor why you think they'd want to embark on something that would take them with it!
