Not sure how far north you are but it was -40 in my home town yesterday. I haven't checked the temperature today but it was clear again and it didn't warm up in the day time so..... Funny story. Back in the early 70s I was sent to Ontario for military training just north of Toronto. One of the guys on course with me was from southern Ontario and with wonderment in his voice said "I have never been this far north before". I dryly replied "And I have never been this far south".
