Summer is officially over...

Yesterday it was only 20 degrees (Celcius) in my room and my fingers started cramping up. So I turned up the thermostat by 1 degree for 5 hours and my gas bill rose to a full euro more than an average summer day. When in bed with the central heating turned off again, I got so cold my joints were hurting when I woke up, so I have established that my environment needs to be 21 degrees minimum 24/7, and that using central heating to accomplish that isn't affordable when it gets any colder outside.

So I went into the city today and got myself an electric blanket, and a small electric heater for underneath my desk so I can sit right in front of that and stay warm without heating the entire room. So far that works!

I wasn't the only one who apparently can't afford central heating anymore though. There was a literal queue in front of the shelf with electric blankets. 😕

Is this because gas prices have gone up? Or your climate preferences have changed? Or your income had dropped?

In other words, why this story now? What's changed?

Sincerely curious. And, I'm sorry that comfort isn't affordable for you. 😔
@sarabee1995 It's the gas prices. Directly because central heating burns more gas than I can afford, and indirectly because this also made groceries more expensive and I have less money left to spend on heating.

@NerdyPotato Got it. Thanks for explaining. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.
