I flew into Phoenix one year in April or May, I cannot recall. It was 102. I drove to the Grand Canyon, where it was cooler. When I returned to Phoenix a week later, it was 98, and windy. Forest fires loomed on the horizon.

But my hotel in Phoenix the last day, before I flew home, had an outdoor pool in the shade, which was so nice.

@Kelsey I might move there after I retire. I am sick of winter. I grew up in Ohio, and I live in Maryland now.

The 102 degree Phoenix heat was not too bad, since it was dry. Yet 117 sounds really scary!

Of course northern Arizona is cooler. When I was there one tall mountain north of Flagstaff still had a little snow on top. I drove up to see it.

@Kelsey I thought it was nice. But it looks like it snows in winter. I want no more cold and snow.

By the way, it is supposed to be 102 here on Sunday.
