I Am Affected By the Weather

So far this month, we've had a total of 16 days over 40C with nighttime minimums in the mid 20sC. We use tank water and the tank is on the western side of the house and the water coming out of it is warm. Can't even have a cold shower and this isn't our hottest month lol.

Looking forward to winter.

We had a day here of 41c in NE Victoria last month which is unheard of for Autumn, but now it's summer and it's back to 10 - 12c and cold winds, like winter. It's really crazy.

@SW-User 41!!..i've changed my mind about moving up that way
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@SW-User Yeah, don't know what to wear, lol. I'm looking at possibly heading to Vic for a couple of weeks over the worst of Summer.
SW-User
@Bushmanoz It sure isn't my favourite place to live, the allergies are really bad. Many who've moved here who never had hayfever or asthma have it now. There is so much dust in the air from surrounding farms, that i leave my car parked in the street overnight and the next morning it's covered in brown dust. I want to move to Tassie.

@SW-User Last month was Autumn?
Bushmanoz · 56-60, M
@Bushranger if ur headed Melb way bring a change for everything
Bushmanoz · 56-60, M
@SW-User mate, you have to try local honey, it helps..apparently. I dont have a choice, I figure i will get used to it like back in the old days when we had no ac
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Bushmanoz Yeah, Melbourne; If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes, lol. No, more likely one of the lakes in northwest Vic. Spend my time sitting in the water to stay cool.
SW-User
@Bushranger It's been a real mixed bag here the last few summers. When i was growing up, the weather was so consistent. Over summer it would be high 30's every day with low humidity... quite bearable. Now though it changes so much. It can be 40's and high humidity as well or cold and even in a couple of cases snowing on the mountains. If you come her over summer, make sure you stay somewhere that has reverse cycle A/C - not evaporative.

@Bushmanoz I've heard that honey can be good, i guess it being local helps too, thanks! In the old days when i was a kid, i survived quite well without AC because the summers were dry, but these days there's higher levels of humidity which i just haven't learned to cope with, and i seem to struggle with humidity more, the older i get.

@SW-User I've only got a swampy on my house. Was fine when it was installed, but there's way to many days that it doesn't work well now. Sitting in a lake all day when it's hot really appeals to me these days lol.
SW-User
@Bushranger That's it. When i was younger there was no humidity over summer and swampies were perfect. Now the humidity can resemble Darwin and swampies just cover everything in water. The lake and river here are really nice. I summer the lake can be really low but the river is always cool and high, due to irrigation requirements.
Bushmanoz · 56-60, M
@SW-User @Bushranger Swampy must be a NSW term i'd not heard them called that before a member here told me what they were, and yeah humidity is a killer. Also, the honey has to be local, not freom safeway etc, but a beekeeper, something to do with it containing the pollens you are allergic to..I have a few beehives so youd think id know more
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@SW-User Which lake is that?
SW-User
@Bushranger Lake Hume.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Bushmanoz Possibly a NSW term, but I think Vics use it too. Not sure.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@SW-User Ah, might take a look at it.
SW-User
@Bushranger It's worth considering if it's above 30%, anything less then it turns into a bit of a mud hole. The river Murray that it feeds is always nice though.

@SW-User I was thinking of heading to Hopetoun. Lovely lake there.
SW-User
@Bushranger Yes that's northern vic, rather than north east. It'd be my choice. The only benefits to where i live are the choice of restaurants. They are trying to turn it into a mini-melbourne though. The road design can't handle the current traffic at 60,000 people or there abouts, yet they want to have 400,000 here in a few years. I'll see you in Hopetoun lol
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@SW-User Mmmm, you're making it sound like a good place to be. Food is one of my biggest weaknesses.
SW-User
@Bushranger I gotta say, i love the food here. We have great cafe's and restaurants and they're all so close together. Then there's a huge coffee culture...literately coffee shops and vans open from 5 or 6 am every day all over the place, if you know where to look. Melbourne has it but it's much more spread out. Probably Southbank in Melbourne would be the place to go. I loved Scarborough Beach in Perth though... great restaurants with a sea breeze... can't beat that.

@SW-User just be aware Hobart can have a day or two where it gets into to 40's. But usually the next day it is around 17 or 18
