I Am Affected By the Weather

So far this month, we've had a total of 16 days over 40C with nighttime minimums in the mid 20sC. We use tank water and the tank is on the western side of the house and the water coming out of it is warm. Can't even have a cold shower and this isn't our hottest month lol.

Looking forward to winter.

Wow! 40 is super hot. We have hot weather here too at the moment. Yesterday was 35 in the shade. And water is always a problem.

@SW-User We've recently had mid 30s here a few times over the last few weeks. Today it's down to 17, feels really cold lol. I think that it's going to be a hot summer this year. Not really looking forward to it.
SW-User
@Bushranger The heat is ok as long as the rain comes.
SW-User
@Bushranger Yeah 17 is almost arctic conditions ...
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@SW-User We had 6mm over yesterday and this morning. Need a lot more than that, though.
SW-User
@Bushranger I feel you...we had 20mm like three weeks ago, people who live in places where it rains a lot don’t get us folks watching the rain gauge constantly.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@SW-User We probably won't get much more now until Autumn. What area are you in? If you don't mind me asking.
SW-User
@Bushranger Africa.
SW-User
@Bushranger We have summer rainfall and Feb is the big rain month so here’s hoping. our dams are empty.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@SW-User Ah, I feel for you too. Nothing worse than seeing dry paddocks and empty dams.
SW-User
@Bushranger And dying livestock and bushfires....
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@SW-User Yeah, bushfires have been bad over here already. I've got my evacuation plan all sorted, should be able to move out in about 5 minutes. Hope we don't have to, though.
SW-User
@Bushranger It’s not as bad here as it is in Oz thankfully.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@SW-User Been the worst that I can remember.
SW-User
@Bushranger really? Do you think all this climate change stuff has anything to do with it?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@SW-User Yep, there has been a steady increase in average temperatures over the last few decades. I've been living here for about 33 years and the winters are no where near as cold as they were when I first moved here. On the other side of things, the days in the 40s have increased, but the averages over that time have gone up. Sure, there have been extremes of cold and heat over the years, but the averages are increasing.

Saw an interview with a guy from the Rural Fire Service recently, he said that the fire season is getting longer every year so they don't get the chance to burn off like they used to. But I know a lot of people will disagree with me.
SW-User
@Bushranger I have to say our winters aren’t as cold as they were either, it’s been years since we got black frost. What do you do on a personal level to safe guard your property during fire season? Are you allowed to burn of parts of your own land if you live in a rural area?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@SW-User Just keep it reasonably clear around the house. Seriously, if it caught fire, I wouldn't be too bothered. Got my important papers and photos stored on USB sticks, one on my keychain and one in my motorhome. Worse case scenario, jump in motorhome and take off.
@Bushranger I live in Tazzie, have all my life - and our seasons have changed so much - we used to get lots of summer thunderstorms - rarely now. Winters were always crunchy underfoot - puddles with ice half an inch thick were common. now they're a novelty.
Weather is all over the place.
First day of summer yesterday, and it snowed in the hinterlands 🤷‍♀️
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@BoobooSnafu Yeah, never know what's coming next. The winds here have gotten worse too. I'd like to spend summer in Tassie, but one of my dogs is too nervous to make the crossing.
@Bushranger they're nice - if a little all over the place. Spring ( which it still really us right now) - is all over the damn place - it's rained and the sun has come out about six times today already 🤷‍♀️

I've heard of people sedating their animals for the crossing - but...it disorientates them something shocking - and coming out of it can be stressful.

Aint no place perfect - but wjen you live close to your land - you see the change.
And those changes are getting bigger each year!
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@BoobooSnafu I was there about 15 years ago over December/January for a few weeks. Stopped at a cafe in the highlands and nearly froze when I got out of the car. I'm thinking of having a talk with the vet about sedating the dog so we can make the crossing. Love Tassie and really want to spend some time there.
@Bushranger Must admit I love it to.
Lots of green places to absorb yourself in. Plenty of beaches.
Just -be aware -and I hate saying this about the place I love... Stick to the country... The main cities are getting snobby - losing their friendliness.
Shame.. But big fish in a small pond think they be something special 😁🤣

@BoobooSnafu We work on the basis of any town with a MacDonalds or KFC is getting too big to go to. If it has both, go around it.
😁 @Bushranger sound policy there👍
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@BoobooSnafu Hasn't let us down yet lol.
