I guess these shootings keep happening here in Murica because people act like they’re frontiersman and we make gang/mob culture seem gaudy and noble.

Shootings happen in many other countries. But only here is it replacing baseball as our national pass time. Because we tell people - if all else fails, pick up your gun.

See you at the next game/shooting

Take the democrat run cities of NYC, Chicago, LA, Baltimore and Philadelphia out of the mix and the US compares well with any other developed country. All those states have medium to large rural areas subject to the same strict gun laws but vastly fewer murders.

It’s not the guns, it’s the urban criminal element.
@redredred So what? Ban cities?
redredred · M
@BohemianBabe No. What we need to do, based on the evidence, is recognize the problem is cultural with the urban criminal element, not the hardware millions of gun owners use safely and responsibly.
@redredred And what policies can we do to fix that?
redredred · M
@BohemianBabe Arrest and meaningfully sentence the actual shooters for a start. Next, we stop policies that actively destroy the family structure. I know it sounds quaint but fatherlessness is a common component among those responsible for urban violence.

Additionally, I think a huge pull back in the use of prescription mood altering drugs would be a big benefit. Our society has quietly poisoned itself into insanity.
@redredred They already do that. Most shooters get life in prison.
Which policies destroy the family structure?

@BohemianBabe In most jurisdictions single moms get preferential treatment in housing and SNAP card amounts. This discourages husbands in the home. Interesting fact, in 1960, the white illegitimate rate was 5%, the Black rate was 4.9%. Today the Black rate is north of 70% whereas the white rate is 29%.

Something changed.
@redredred No, there's no evidence that welfare programs lead to fatherlessness. This is a lie invented by Conservatives to cut any program that helps the working-class.

The black rate was actually 25%. And illegitimacy does not equal fatherlessness. A lot of couples just aren't getting legally married, but are still living together with their kids.
Welfare programs actually have cut poverty, though. And that's the real issue here.

@BohemianBabe I can educate you but you have to do your part. You’re just spouting democrat nonsense now.
@redredred

WRONG!!
Alaska had 6.7 for every 100,000 people; Texas had 6.6; about equal to LA. NYC has HALF that murder rate. And Alaska is 21st among states for murder rates.

Missouri, Mississippi, Arkansas, South Carolina, all these states had more than 10 murders per 100K. Sorry dude, the data doesn't support your claim. In fact, NYC brings DOWN the national average!

@ElwoodBlues You’re wrong

@redredred DUUUDE!!!
Did you actually READ your link?? Politifact rates your claim "pants-on-fire" false!!

Is the United States third in murders and are outlier cities to blame? No.

Thanks for the link that PROVES YOU WRONG!!!

@ElwoodBlues You are correct, I was debunking that myth on another site. Try this and fo the math
