@Babaloo6 Much like the matchlock, flintlock and wheel lock muskets that preceeded them, shotguns are a smooth bore firearm and therefore, not as accurate over long distances. And the types of ammunition for a shotgun vary from birdshot and buckshot to slug. Birdshot and buckshot, typically used for hunting fan out or disperse when it leaves the barrel, usually at medium-to long ranges. a slug, on the other hand, is useful in combat for piercing light armor, but is about as accurate as a musket ball.
