There's plenty of empirical evidence that shows that more guns leads to more gun violence. Arming us won't stop violent crimes. It would most likely do the opposite.

@Wendy33 I disagree. Where I live, everyone has guns and there's almost no crime

@Notanymore That's called anecdotal evidence. I'm referring to actual statistical studies done on multiple populations.

@Wendy33 then come to my area to study.

@Wendy33 statistics offer what they want to sell

@Notanymore I believe what you're experiencing is an availability heuristic along with confirmation bias. You believe the idea is good so you have sought out info that supports it. Your info is your own area which you see as both low crime rate and high amounts of armed citizens, both which may or may not be true.
However, to make my point clearer: if you add 1000 guns to a population, there is a higher chance of one of those guns being used than if there were zero guns added. If you believe guns are only used for self defense there are two communities in Texas that can offer different ways they have been used. I reference TX since that state has a high population of gun owners.

@Wendy33 and my offer to come see the area is still open. I respect your opinions, but do disagree
Wendy33 · F
@Notanymore That's ok. Thank you for the offer. If you still support the idea, you can get me a gun.

@Wendy33 do you want to learn to shoot and learn gun safety? If nothing else, it's an experience
