I've been watching the news some but I want a clear understanding on what is going on with this war. What does this mean for us? Are we in danger?

It'll be what they euphemistically call "asymmetric warfare." Iran is far weaker militarily than the US, so they won't be sending soldiers to fight toe-to-toe. Instead, Iran will be looking to attack soft targets like oil tankers and soldiers near military bases.
It's much more expensive for us to defend all our soft targets around the world than it is for Iran to attack them; that's how asymmetric warfare works.
