Well, it won't happen. But it is interesting, because unlike the hand-wringing from left-wing western governments, it would address the problem.

@MartinII Only from "left-wing" governments? Not right-wing as well?

Would Israel, Hamas and Iran really take much notice of any "Western" government, left, right, up, down or round in circles unless it suits the ruthless, small-minded men in charge of those three?

It would "address the problem" by replacing it..... with a nightmarishly bigger one still.

@ArishMell As I said, it won't happen. But the only criticisms I have read from western governments are from left-wing ones. There aren't, of course, many right-wing ones.

@MartinII Well, left-wing governments do traditionally care about people rather more than right-wing ones; or at least they like everyone to think so.

However, Trump's expansionist ideas have drawn opposition from quite an alliance of left, right, coaltion, theocratic, anti-theocratic and owt-else-ic around the world.

Perhaps it won't happen because Trump's own senior ministers won't let it.

@ArishMell Trump's idea, bizarre as it is, is not expansionist. He's just searching for a way of giving Israel real security and thus reducing the need for American involvement in the Middle East.

@MartinII Well, I can see that is his hope but it is hardly the best way to go about solving a festering dispute nearly eighty years old.
