Definitely not, especially as if he seems to want to dispossess the poor Palestines in favour of a "riviera", whatever he meant by that.

It would be the final insult to the Arabic nation from which Israel was carved in 1948, with considerable displacement at the time. Far from bringing peace in the Middle East it would inflame the entire situation even further; if not catastrophically certainly with repercussions lasting an unforeseeable time ahead.

All that for a foreigner who will be his own country's President for just four years, and for a handful of particularly zealous hard-liners in the Israeli government.

Although he is very much mindful of the hawks in his own government, If Netanyahu has any sense he will do what the Arabic states, Russia, China, Britain, France, Germany and others have all done in a remarkble show of unity, and say "NO!" to Mr. Donald Trump. They might say "No" in different ways for different reasons, but none support his proposal.

I don't think it will come to what amounts to invasion and colonising even if not militarily, but it may depend how much the US' own senior ministers are able to rein Mr. Trump in. Whatever he may or may not do within the USA - and that's America's own business - his foreign "policy" risks making the USA one of the least trustworthy of nations.

The most the USA should do, and really all it can do, is help the Palestinians rebuild their wrecked country physically. Though how much it would be able to help anyone overseas, now appears moot with Elon Musk trying to end America's foreign aid department. Oh the irony!
