Fortnite for the boys

So Joel and I are thinking about getting a PS5 for the boys and letting them play Fortnite.

Is it a good game for kids
How safe is it. I know you can chat with others on there but are there age restrictions or good parent controls on it.

Any advice would be great

I really don't know much about how game consoles or how these online video games work these days but on the safe side, I would use parental controls or have parental supervision. If it's only your two boys and their school friends with no one else online involved, I guess it would be ok.

Honestly, the game wouldn't be bad for his so long as they keep comms off and don't add strangers

The game inherently is a really easy, low-violence shooter game (in that there's no gore or violent executions, pleas for life/help, etc.)
Just a tactical team based shooter

Anything you do would need to be soma based and the headset you would want to disengage your children from strangers in voice comms would be a headset with no microphone. Because that would then only enable contact through PS5 texting or in game text chat

Any game that children gravitate towards will always have creeps

And if you're religious, they recently added "selling your soul to the devil" a while back for precious items, which definitely was something 😅

@AverageMuslim thank you for the information. They have a few friends at school that play on the PS5 and they want to play together.

I want them to have fun with their friends but also be safe as well.

The game allows people into it who are from the internet. Battles contain up to 100 real players of all ages.

There is a free portion of the game called Battle Royale, where players try to kill each other. You would be role-playing the murder of a complete stranger...in the game.

It teaches violence, and it teaches kids that killing strangers is just fine...and that is absolutely okay if you know that your boys are going to become soldiers someday.

@4meAndyou I don't think either of them will become soldiers. I just know many of their friends play and they want both of them to start playing as well

@Cigarguy Just don't train the Antifa protesters of the future...by accident.
