I think it's shaping up to be a golden age for indie and foreign devs. Western AAA studios seem to have been dropping the ball for 5+ years now

@caPnAhab agree with that.

This feels like the first time in years that I’m actually getting excited about the games coming out.

@Ben1000 I hate to get my hopes up too high. But I'm excited for the next few Star Wars games announced.

Knights of the Old Republic remake
Fate of the Old Republic
Eclipse

@caPnAhab I never played the original Knights of the old Republic so definitely down for the remake.
Eclipse looks good too, really Star Wars is Taylor made for video games, it’s actually harder to get it wrong.
I hear you but so far I’m enjoying Crimson Desert, I loved RE9 and Pragmata was good.
I’ve also preordered Saros

@Ben1000
Kotor and it's sequel really are RPGs I think are essentials for any Star Wars or RPG fan, despite them being a little clunky.

All I've heard about Crimson Desert is good things. I should play these new games but I get too caught up in the old games that are already my favorite. RE9 looks pretty cool too

@caPnAhab honestly it's largely about capitalism - or rather return on investment. If you take a game like Baldur's Gate 3 and put it at a western AAA dev, then it would be viewed as kind of a flop financially. Acclaimed game, great critical review. It had AAA level sales. But it also took significantly longer and cost more to develop. AAA devs don't get the liberty to play in those margins, especially if they are publicly traded or owned by private non-gamer investors.

The indie space are the only ones with any room to breath and experiment. Even then, far more fail than succeed.

@ViciDraco and the Indy devs are turning out some good games, AAA games have been dull for a while now

@Ben1000 most of them are stuck in the safe sequel space. Assassin's Duty World Cup 2027 Remastered
