Can I play Xbox 360 games on PC?

I read an article or saw something on Microsofts website that said you could play Xbox 360 games on PC, since both Windows and Xbox are Microsoft products, but don't you need game pass to do that?

Thanks.

Not sure about xbox 360 in particular, but I assume it should work for all xbox games. There is the xbox app on your windows descktop. At least there is on mine (and I can't get rid of it. It opens every time I start my pc). You could probably log into your acc and play games directly from there on your pc.

I personally don't use it, because I was never a console gamer, so I don't have any games for it. So I can't give you more reassuring information.

@TanukiFrolic Yeah it has to do with a thing called, Xbox Play Anywhere. Basically the game has to have that tag on it "Xbox Play Anywhere" and that game will work on Xbox and PC, but this feature is for newer games and consoles. I don't think Xbox 360 games are included in that offering of Xbox Play Anywhere. I think you also need a Game Pass subscription to use the Xbox Play Anywhere.

Unless through emulation (which is still shaky as of time of writing) you cannot. Steam has a lot of ports of those games that tend to sell for cheap often, tho. Some Xbox games may be accessible via Xbox for PC account.

@Samek Here we go:

How to use Xbox Play Anywhere

Buying an Xbox Play Anywhere® digital version of a game from the Xbox or Microsoft Store® lets you play it on your console or a computer with the Windows™ operating system (10 or later). And if you start a game on your console but want to dive in later on a PC (or vice versa), you can pick up where you left off.

Xbox Play Anywhere doesn't cost extra, but you'll want to make sure that the game is listed as Play Anywhere when you buy it.

To access Xbox Play Anywhere, follow these steps:

Head to the Xbox Play Anywhere website and log in to your Microsoft account.
Buy or install games with the Xbox Play Anywhere digital game license. Once you download the game, you can launch it directly from the Microsoft Store® on your PC.

It also says something about remote streaming, but not sure how that would work.

@twiigss Sounds like for digital only. Your discs will still collect dust. You'd have to buy digital copies of said games and like I said, Steam has a lot of them for cheap or cheap on sales.

@Samek Oh yea no no, I know it's digital only. All my discs are in a drawer right now lol.
