Why is gaming such a big thing these days?

I don't totally get the appeal. I'd rather do something more productive or something I would at least benefit from.

It’s a hobby that requires good eye-hand coordination, strategy, puzzle-solving, exploration, managing resources. Some games are like movies that you play. People find that fun.
