I am finally understanding video games

TLDR
I grew with computers, except my 3 games on GameBoy DMG
friends had consoles (remember friends having Segas)
2007 Picked up a N-DS, I think I bought 2 games for it, I was in a totally different head space

skip 15 yrs, and a Whole Lot of chronic medical issues and I geta Switch and the Ring Fit, to help combate medical bs, that lasts about 3 months

skip from '22 to 2 months ago and this random device pops up on my feed, turns out it's the Anbernic RG Rotate

**ND Hyper Focus Powers Activate! **

Down the rabbit hole I went, bingeing handheld emulator YouTube content for 3 weeks

for those that are lost, a handheld emulator is basically a programable GameBoy

decided on the one I wanted to buy, bought it from the manufacturer instead of a retail site, got $20 off an $80 unit (back to school sale) and a warranty that I wouldn't have gotten from a retail site, downside was a 3 week delivery instead of 3-5 day delivery

Finally got it, plugged in the 1,000 game SDcard, and as a noob, I beat 3 games in 3 weeks, including 2 in 1 day

the 2 were Pico-8 and the one was a produce tie-in, admitted easy but OMG the dopamine flood that happened! I am starting to really understand console gaming!

the little I played in the past, I always went for the classic titles, with understanding you can just pick up and play those titles, the perfectionist side of my ND brain gave up

this time around, during this "honeymoon" phase, no joke spent 40 hrs/wk, I'm sure it will calm down in the future, but with So many games out there, I can see this turning into a long term thing

I'm also something of a gamer in my own small way.

Consoles, handhelds, computers, you name it, I'm into it.
