Having so much fun playing Spyro 1

Just ploughing through it, and having a great time. I feel like a kid again, even though I never played Spyro 1 as a kid. To be fair it seems to be a lot easier than the other two games in the trilogy so I'm worried I'm going to get frustrated doing their harder challenges (like I was as a kid).

I guess I know enough about myself now to say that I really like easier games. Because I don't find challenging things fun so much as frustrating. I can get frustrated pretty easily, and did when trying to race past the Tin Knights in Haunted Towers - you get to come back to kill them later, but there's a sequence near the end where you have to get past heaps of them on a staircase and the hit boxes where they occupy when inanimate on the ground (you can't go through them) are pretty annoying.

Also mechanical keyboards are cool and I like the sound they make when you type. Still getting used to not using a laptop though, since my new keyboard is a bit wider and more spaced out.

My Spyro senses are tingling

@JRVanguard I was wondering how long it'd take you to notice this.

@KiwiDan I made it😌
Also Haunted Towers is my favorite world in Spyro 1
Thank you for BC

@JRVanguard Haunted Towers is definitely fun. I don't have a favourite, but my least favourite are the flight levels. I find them immensely frustrating

@KiwiDan Yeah the flights/speedways I’m not the biggest fan of
They’re okay in 2 cause once you beat them you can just freely flight around and that’s fun on its own but the actual challenges are just meh
Spyro 5 revamped them quite a bit by giving them to another character and I think those are the best in the franchise personally

@JRVanguard I didn't even know there was a Spyro 5. Unless it's one of the PS2 games I didn't play

@KiwiDan There’s a shocking amount of them
I actually keep a list in my notes cause I forget about them:
So there’s the original trilogy
Then the 2 PS2 games
Then there’s 4 Gameboy games
So we’re at 9 already

And THEN there was the reboot: the Legend of Spyro
Which only had 3 games
BUUUUUUUUT
Each of those 3 games had 3 different versions
The first 2 came out primarily on the PS2 but had tie ins for both the Gameboy and DS(which were all 3 unique games not just ports)
And the third one came out primarily on the PS3 but with only a DS tie in but a different version on the PS2!
So arguable there’s 8 or 9 Legend of Spyro games
So 17 or 18 total!

Skylanders is even more complicated and I don’t have the answer for that one but I know the first one says Spyro in the title

@KiwiDan Actually I’m missing one Spyro 6 was a Gameboy exclusive that I don’t have on this list called Shadow Legacy
KiwiDan · 31-35, M
@JRVanguard bloody hell that's a lot! So which one was Spyro 5? I've only played the originals, enter the dragonfly, and a bit of the first legend of spyro game (we never got a ps3 or anything after that)
JRVanguard · 26-30, M
@KiwiDan A Hero’s Tale is Spyro 5
Which is the best one that isn’t the original trilogy or the Reignited Trilogy
By a lot
KiwiDan · 31-35, M
@JRVanguard was it actually finished? Because Enter the Dragonfly was definitely not
JRVanguard · 26-30, M
@KiwiDan It was
It was a very solid game
Unfortunately the franchise couldn’t recover from Enter the Dragonfly
KiwiDan · 31-35, M
@JRVanguard I'm not surprised. That game needed another year's worth of bug fixes. I did want to play A Hero's Tale but was never able to. Guess that's what emulators are for

@KiwiDan Yeah it was rushed to come out Christmas Day and was just a disaster of a game
