Why do most Sonic the Hedgehod games crash? Are there online sites where I can play them without crashing?

For example, a few moments ago I played Sonic Autmn mix. It froze at the begining of the first level. Then I decided to play it on a different website to see if the game would work better. However, it still crashed. I'm feeling very frustrated about this.
