Is it just me, or did a lot of older 3D video games tend to be kind empty and void of life?

When I was a kid it was something that was a bit unsettling to me.

I actually REALLY liked the atmosphere that created and I wish some games did the same today.
It gives a creepy sense of being alone, especially when there was no music over top.

@Wol62 A lot of early games were unintentionally like that, but now so many games today try so hard to avoid it it sometimes hurts the setting they are trying to convey.

@DylanGuy Certain areas in GTA 5 have that feeling. Like Sandy Shores which is a half abandoned desert town with a very low population

@SubstantialKick The bases and ships in Mass Effect 1 are another modern example.

I loved Exhumed/Powerslave.

Did you ever play that one?

@Wol62 Ah. I had a Super Nintendo lol.

@SubstantialKick Do you still have it? I bet there weren't many 3D games on that!

@Wol62 After we got an Nintendo 64 for Christmas '99 it disappeared lol. The Super Nintendo did have some 3D games, but they look and probably play like crap nowadays 😂.
