I wish there was better public transportation here in US

I must admit I've never felt public transport to be "chic", but I would use it more except that some of my more distant destinations are served only poorly, or not at all, by either trains or buses.

I enjoy rail travel, although I don't much like the trains used on the German State-owned "Cross Country" services from Bristol to the North. At least those are fast (up to perhaps 100mph?) and comfortable.

Most of the country's railway stations are readily accessible from my own town in SW England, and without the cost and inconvenience of going via London unless necessary. Though I need consider not having my car at my destination.

I use the buses more than my car for many local journeys, up to about thirty miles away.

I'll never understand those who prefer to get a nervous breakdown driving surrounded by apes, over literally jumping into a bus/train/plane, taking out your earbuds and listening some music while you're getting moved around
