It’s great when you can get away with not having a car. I didn’t have one when I lived in the city and didn’t miss the expense one bit!

I'm happy to wear the cost for the freedom they provide. I used to rely on buses and will never do that again if I can help it.

Depends on how far and how often you need to travel
PrincessVelvet · F
The cabbies sure appreciate it too .

Not to mention the price of insurance, License fees, and registration
SW-User
@SW-User I included that in my estimated savings. Purchase price, upkeep, repairs and gas as well.

@SW-User That's smart thinking
rfatoday · 61-69, M
You may well be saving that! Cars add up if you break down fuel, wear and tear, maintenance, insurance, etc.

I have no choice there are no taxies, busses or trains out in the rural countryside where I live.
mayguy · 46-50, M
Ahhh...are taxis cheaper than rideshare or public transit in your area? 🤔
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
They are a money pit for sure.
Sevendays · M
Yep, they are expensive.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
I haven’t owned a car or driven in about 20 years. I can't imagine paying $100 for a tank of gas.
bijouxbroussard · F
Same here. When my car gave up the ghost, I just started to take the bus, BART or streetcar. That was like 35 years ago.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard BART?
bijouxbroussard · F
@SW-User Sorry, the subway train (Bay Area Rapid Transit).
SW-User
That's a huge cost saving
