I got my private pilot licence at last.

I learned across the.summer and was taking lessons for 4 months.Once I passed the practical skills test I carried on learning to get an instrument rating. The plane I took the lessons in was a Cessna 182.Harder to learn in than the Cessna 172 more commonly used, however I found the 172 awkward because I'm tall.
The examiner told me I was the first he had seen take the test barefooted.

Well done! I've never even see the cockpit of any plane in person.
jackjones68 · 51-55, M
@tallpowerhouseblonde Thats my plan.
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F
@jackjones68 will you buy a holiday home there?
jackjones68 · 51-55, M
@tallpowerhouseblonde maybe rent first. And take it from there. No ties if it doesn't work out.

Congratulations. Flying a plane barefoot? Perhaps you will start a new trend in aviation. 🛩🛬👣👣

Congratulations on you licence! Did you get dunked? I got my license when I was 17 and the tradition then and there was you got soaked after your first solo. I bought a Piper Tripacer that was older than me. Bare minimum of instruments so you had to learn the rudder and stick method of flying with dead reckoning navigation. If you didn't reckon your navigation you were dead. Flying is a lot of fun. Expensive but fun. Enjoy your time in the air.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@tallpowerhouseblonde Yes I was given a scholarship by the Air Force to get my license. Sadly they were picking the best of the best of the best and my left eye was just a bit too weak for advanced training in what I had hoped was fighter jets. Oh well what woulda been coulda been. lol. I enjoyed my old tripoop but the instruments were so disfunctional all my flying was VFR. About the only three that worked was the airspeed indicator the altimeter and the turn and bank coorindator. Even the fuel guages didn't work so either I filled the tanks or dipped them to find out if I had enough gas. lol
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F
@hippyjoe1955 That is flying seat of the pants. It would scare me.Air Force selection is understandably very strict especially for fighter jets.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@tallpowerhouseblonde Yes and when I was eligible the airforce was downsizing very drastically. They were very very picky. Some of the guys who were fighter pilots before me were laughing saying they wouldn't have made the cut either. Flying is a lot of fun though and a great way to travel longer distances. Too short a distance and you might as well drive. I used to take Mom and Dad to visit my uncle who live 3 hours away by car. I could get them there in an hour. Dad loved it but often got lost and that would create a panic. lol

@helenoftroy2000 It's been an ambition for a really long time.
popmol · 26-30, M
where do you want to fly to?
jackson55 · M
As long as you can push the rudder pedals, shouldn’t make a difference.
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F
@jackson55 The 310 is twin engine so I can't pilot it.I do like the debonair or bonanza but they are nearly all 4 seats and the newer models are crazy expensive.
jackson55 · M
@tallpowerhouseblonde Stick with the Debonair if you can. Bonanzas are showing their age. An airplane that will seat 6 is going to be spendy too.
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F
@jackson55 It will be faster yes.Already fitted with Garmin would be great too.
helenoftroy2000 · 22-25, F
Are you going for an instrument rating?
