What Kind Of People Plan On Flying Knowing That A Very Powerful Winter Storm is Headed To Their Area?

So many flights cancelled this holiday and people are complaining. They knew it was coming. Some stranded for days and their luggage piling up.

People who want to get to Las Vegas in their secret heart of hearts, instead of home for Christmas!!!

Hearing about all the flight cancellations and delays I think it may be time for President Biden to direct the USAF and USAF Reserves to help get the people moving.

There are hundreds of jumbo C-5s, C-17s and crews able to be mobilized within a couple of hours.

While the weather may have closed a number of airports down for a few hours, once the storms have passed and the runways cleared, the airports are again operational. So what's causing the cancellations and delays have more to do with staffing and misaligned resources. Even with light snow, snowplows make periodic passes to keep airports open.

There's historical precedence for the military to come to the rescue of stranded passengers overloading the existing airline resources. Listen to the news reports, it may be that time again.

For some people Christmas and New year is sacred. My family wanted me to fly but I said ...come on....middle of winter ? YOU do not have the inconveniences but I will. It is really not worth it.

@revenant We had a blizzard in Oklahoma in 2012. It was set to hit on Christmas Eve. They warned for 4 days before to get all shopping done, winterize the home, have everything you need stocked up and to stay home and not be on the roads. People had to do their last minute shopping and some died because they were trying to drive home after the stores closed at 6 p.m. They didn’t find one man’s truck with him inside for over a day because the snow had piled up and covered it.

Why is most all of Southwest airlines flights cancelled and its not that way with other airlines
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Tminus6453 maybe they were thinking if a plane crashed there would be huge lawsuits etc.

@cherokeepatti Well probably considering it seems they got rid of their best pilots for the 'woke' cause

Agree. The same sort of people who decide to pop off down the motorway to the retail park when there's amber warning of snow/floods etc 🙄
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Fluffybull they could have caught a bus or maybe a train and got there quicker and kept track of their luggage.

I think they are related to the people that drive on the interstate on wing a blizzard is imminent
I don't like flying in inclement weather, but if the flight doesn't get cancelled, I get on the plane.
