Been doing that for years in Norway. Only for small packages though, up to 5 kg, 35x25x12 cm. The idea is that it is a size that fits in a standard Norwegian (Scandinavian?) postbox. In our case it's picked up in the middle of the night or early morning by the same service that delivers newspapers. The Post Office also does it and picks up packages at the same time as they deliver letters.

@ninalanyon DoorDash does that there ?

@bijouxbroussard Not Doordash. It's a home-grown service called HeltHjem. In English the name means "All the way home". They are part of the Schibsted media company that owns a site called Finn.no that is the Norwegian equivalent of Ebay. Helthjem can be used by anyone but it is also an integral part of Finn.no so that when you buy something in that market place then Finn issues a code that the seller writes on the package to be collected by HeltHjem and also holds the money until the buyer receives and approves the goods.
The Norwegian market is quite small with a geographically scattered population and also quite agile so the big global players don't always find it easy to break in. Uber hasn't done well here, the local taxi firms all have apps anyway, Amazon has no Norwegian physical presence.
