Night vision not what it once was

I'd be out riding my motorcycle in the rain tonight except black pavement with rain through a visor means I can't see the road as well as I could at 20

I hear increasingly, people saying they are finding using the roads after dark more and more difficult, even dangerous. The cause is not only the effects of age on the eyes.

The manufacturers now fit cars with extremely intense, focussed headlamps far more dazzling even on dip beam than the old 45/60W incandescant ones were.

Also a lot of the larger cars are now needlessly wider and higher than their older equivalents, placing their headlamps much nearer other users' eye-level. While the style fad for high-brightness light-bars across the car's width only makes thing worse.
@ArishMell Actually the issue with these LED lights is that they are Flood lights, not Spot lights, meaning there is no way to direct them down and out of everyone's eyes, and the police do nothing about it. Dangerous for sure. Flash your lights at them when you see that, eventually they will clue in and fix it.
@ArishMell @SoftIceCream none of it had anything to do with oncoming lights. Black road in the rain pretty much to myself. Night vision isn't great, almost the opposite of snow blind. No details can be defined,

@Justafantasy I have had motorcycles so I know what it can be like even with better vision than I have now. I'm also finding it harder to drive at night, and that's in a car with windscreen wipers, in dry weather.

There's a slightly awkward set of lane markings in one town I know, and they have become a bit faint. When wet they almost disappear with the mix of street and vehicle lamps shining on them.

My windscreen is tinted too. Looks cool, sucks at night, worse in the rain.

Heavy rain at night is a challenging combo for driving .. i feel like my vision isn't what it used to be either our eyes get cloudy as we age i guess .. my hub had that eye surgery thing done last year where they take out your cataracts or whatever and replace it with a lense .. but he’s almost 70 i heard the israelis are making some new eye drop that helps whatever but i forget exactly
Dangerous out there in the rain, in the dark, on a motorcycle. Better to stay inside, dry, warm, safe (er).
Broken bones are not fun and would wreck your bike too.
@SoftIceCream I can only sit still so long. I went out when it was light just for a fun little rip. It just happened to be dark when I got home,
