Yes they can be dangerous, I have been in a family of riders for my whole life. (not that my whole life has really been a very long time yet) But I told my dad that I want my own motorcycle.
Ninja's are sexy but hard on the knees. I really wanted one but sat on one at the motorcycle show and I knew it was not for me. Maybe go sit on one if you haven't yet and see if it fits. One of my favourite looking bikes is the KTM Duke, but again not for me.
@Hannahjay14 seems like going from 4 wheels to 2 is a natural progression. and if you can ride a 4 wheeler (even to school) seems like you're ready for a bike.
