Fuel Cost In The UK

Fuel cost has risen to an all time high in the uk . It is now almost 10 pound a gallon . That means to fill the average tank is now just over 100 pounds . This is asbsolutely ridiculous . The cost of living is rising beyond anything we have ever seen before and this is just gonna make it worse . Transport companies wont be able to absorb the costs so once again customers are gonna pay more for their goods . Its a vicious circle and to add to it now rail staff are going on strike for more pay . If they get more pay its gonna be rail travellers it will hit with higher rail fares . So whether you use a car or use the train you cant win adding again to the cost of everything . Its begining to spiral out of control . This is gonna cause an economic slump as people stop spending and start watching their spending . Its gonna cause real problems worldwide .

The government needs to tax the energy companies more, they are making vast profits.

@Kowabunga They are but whether it would raise a really useful amount of money over a useful time, in the grand scheme of things, is another matter.

The companies have been accused of not passing on price cuts to customers, and if so that is wrong.

As it is, the Treasury is raking in a lot more tax from the fuel sales than it did, though that can be self-defeating as people cut back on their motoring in response. On the other hand some would say we want that anyway, certainly to cut back on needless short journeys where sensible alternatives exist.
