Blackouts Imminent this Summer. Please be prepared.

Due to oil and gas shortages, the news pundits speculated that there will be blackouts in heavily populated urban areas, and most especially in mismanaged areas like California.

"They" are saying that due to the shortages blackouts will now become a regular thing all over the country, especially on very hot days when everyone is running their air conditioners. If you are living in a high rise, this might be the difference between life and death for the elderly.

Heat stroke is no joke.

IF you can afford it, please buy some battery operated fans, and don't forget to buy the batteries.

Even without an air conditioner, you can cool off by dampening your clothing with cold water and allowing the fan to dry you.

You can also get into a cold shower, and last but not least, here are the plans for a home made battery operated air conditioner:

Maybe have ice made ahead to use for cooling off. It will probably sell fast in convenience stores and other places, so make some ahead and keep it handy.

@SW-User Great idea. You can keep a container in the freezer. During the really hot days of summer, my grandmother would fill a bowl with ice, and allow her fan to blow right over the ice toward where she was sitting.

@4meAndyou Exactly! Even drinking ice water helps. A piece or two of ice in a wash cloth is useful for rubbing on forehead and feet... whatever areas it will help a person feel cooler.
I'd say even a kiddie pool with water in a shaded area is good... and fun! lol I know everyone can't do all the things we list but some are bound to be useful to individuals.
