Russia has little to no affect in U.S. prices. The current administration’s policies have caused our prices to rise every month since the 2020 election.

@JesseInTX Except that the situation is global, and the current U.S. administration has little (if any) control on the rest of the world

@Elessar I’m speaking of the US only. The current administration has a stated goal of eliminating fossil fuels altogether and on day one executive orders were issued which shut down a lot of our domestic production. Less supply equals more demand and higher prices. If this current administration would revert back to the policies of the previous one, problem solved here and it would help global prices because we could be exporting to the countries that used to buy from Russia. And a much cleaner product than any other oil producing nation.

@JesseInTX And last time I checked the U.S. is on the very same planet that the rest of us inhabits, and thus vulnerable to anything going on elsewhere. It's not tha conveniently ignoring there's a world outside the U.S. suddenly makes global problems less global, and/or blameable on the president.

Fossil fuels are part of the issue, the longer you fossilize (no pun intended) on them the harshest the consequences. The U.S. imports them from abroad because in normal times importing fuel is cheaper than self-producing, not because it is magnanimous.

@Elessar since you don’t live here you may not know that we were energy independent prior to January 20, 2021. We were the largest producing nation on the planet and one of the largest exporters. In no way is importing cheaper than domestic production. Some nations need to because they don’t have the natural resources. We don’t. Elections and policies have consequences.

@JesseInTX By your very own reasoning, since you're not an oil executive you're in no position to know whether importing or producing is more feasible, lol. Lack of direct experience with something doesn't preclude you from understanding something.

As I said, oil corporates and west govts aren't charities, moved by magnanimity, as victims of oil industry incessant propaganda seem to believe.

@Elessar you’re correct in one thing, I am not an oil and gas executive. However 3 of my longest and closest friends are and I’ve learned a great deal from them since they started out as grunts in the industry working on the rigs of west Texas and in the Gulf of Mexico, up to the positions they hold now.

@JesseInTX Exactly, and you're understanding their PoV in spite of not being the executive yourself, no different than how I can understand what's going in America right now in spite of having experienced it all in another country.
