you know what would be really impressive? a new green fuel alternative that could be used in regular gas powered cars. imagine if someone could figure that out
In what way green? Not made from oil directly we've had for years (cost and quantity is main issue over adoption).
Green as in no greenhouse gas emissions there is a more difficult issue because any combustion of hydrocarbons will produce CO2 etc.
I still don't see why we've not put more energy into fusion power and hydrogen fuel cells (more exactly cheap plentiful hydrogen extraction from water).
Yes, it definitely would for current naturally aspirated vehicles.
What gets me is they cant fix the problems with polution from cars now, yet their producing electric vehicles with batteries.
Can you imagine when all those batteries ending up in landfills, not to mention all those wiring harnesses and plastics used to insulate the wires. You'll just be compounding the problem.
Not only that, the normal blue-collar worker cant afford those vehicles, its just to exspensive, though prices have come down a weebit for cheaper models.
To me owning a electric powered car is an inconvenience. *I dont want to be waiting a couple hours at the charging station, let alone finding one.
*Resale on the vehicle is ridiculous.
it was written that a owner after taking very good care of his vehicle for several years that he needed new batteries. He found out that the batteries would cost more than the car was worth, insurance companies didnt want to pay for it either.
It'll be quite awhile before the internal combustion engine would be considered obsolete. Not in my lifetime anyway.
You can try using vegetable oil, but it is probably not very 'green' to use food products for transport. Also it will mess up your engine before long and the taxman will get unhappy at the loss of fuel duty 😟
That already exist. You can make diesel and gasoline from wood or plants so it's not a problem. You just need to start build the factories for it, but that cost and it's still cheeper to use oil. But in the future...
What would be even more impressive, is if the person who figured it out could stay alive.
Stanley Meyer invented a cell which would separate the hydrogen from the oxygen in water, so the hydrogen could be burned to power cars or anything else which required gasoline to run. He was murdered before his invention could go into mass production. The oil industry wont tolerate an innovation like that.
Well.. With heavy modification an internal combustion engine will burn Hydrogren and be totally green. But the pressure vessel is the problem. There are better ways to use hydrogen than burning it.😷
