Re-grouping. How to survive rising prices. [I Hate Gas Prices]

Heat: Layered clothing: Layer up while INSIDE your home to stay warm.
Drink hot beverages to warm yourself internally.

Air Conditioning: A fan and a bowl of ice cubes in front of it will actually cool you, and the room, in the middle of summer.

Wear light colored clothing in summer, and wear as little as possible.

Laundry: air or line dry as much as you possibly can. People who have attics in their homes can line dry summer or winter on lines strung through the attic.

Gas:
Work from home if you possibly can to save gas.
Group errands all together in one day to save gas.
Keep tires inflated to save gas.
Remove weight from your vehicle to save gas.
Car pool to help defray the cost of commuting.
Invest in a good bicycle with grocery bag baskets on the back wheel to save gas.
Hook up your spin cycle to a home generator to charge it up.

Food:
Food prices will rise. Eat economically. Dishes like Arroz con Pollo, Red Beans and Rice, Eggs and Egg dishes. Grilled cheese sandwiches. Breakfast casseroles, like Stretch, use stale bread, milk and eggs, is soaked overnight and baked in the morning. Study grocery flyers and prices VERY thoroughly and shop the loss leaders as heavily as possible.

Clothing: Unless you are rich, you will not be able to afford much new clothing. Shop vintage or used clothing stores. Kids can be completely costumed from birth to Junior year from used clothing stores. Remember yard sales! Once the virus is licked, they will come back.

Remember your Local Library. Free museum tickets...free videos and CD's, free books, free use of their computers. Scanning, copying, faxing...they do it all.

Don't forget recycling. In my town we have something called Freecycle. People donate furniture items, and so much more. You just have to watch carefully and get there first.
