I like old country roads

Speaking of old country roads, not many people realize that the hit song by John Denver was written about a road near my childhood home in the Gaithersburg, MD area. At the time this area was still pretty rural and the road John Denver wrote about was truly a country road…a small 2 lane road surrounded by forests and farms and the occasional home.
Drive down that road today and it’s nothing like the country road that he wrote about. If he was to see it today he’d say, ‘That’s not my old country road!’.
