I don't use the back up camera to back up the vehicle, I use it to check if anyone is walking behind me. In that regard it's a very useful tool when driving a large vehicle without back windows.

@robingoodfellow I never had a vehicle with a backup camera. My daughter has one and that thing ignoring, I taped a bag over it when I had to use it.

@HumanEarth I don't care for all the new technology on cars, but I do like the camera as a safety feature.
One of my first jobs back in the 80s was driving a box truck for a small chain of toy stores. One store had the receiving door right next to a back entrance that had people going in and out all the time. Sometimes kids would dash out the door then stand where I was backing and wait for mom to catch up. It was really a bad set up. I usually had to have someone come out to watch for me. A camera back then would have been great.

@robingoodfellow I did the same thing, I drove Box Trucks to Dump Truck to old Converter School Buses.
