The Boy Passed His Driving Test This Morning….Watch Out World Here He Comes…

His grandpa has a nice truck for him but don’t know for sure when he’ll be getting it.

Ah those were the days. I took my test in a borrowed Nash Rambler convertible. Clutch with 3 on the tree. I even used hand signals for extra points. Things are so much different today. We had drivers ed in high school and our instructor even took us to an empty parking lot and taught us defensive driving with obstacles and a wet pad for sliding control.
And no one stayed home then. That license was freedom. It was however also a payh to early death for some careless idiots and their victims. We all knew someone.

@Gibbon I deal with them every day. I am impatient with bad and clueless drivers

@Gibbon They can be very dangerous driving on ice or snowy roads. Had a young girl (teen or college age) driving my way one morning to work when there was ice on the road, she was sliding from one side of the road to the other as she was headed my way. Finally got it straightened out. I hate to drive in those conditions and will stay home unless it’s urgent that I be somewhere. So happy to be retired now and have that choice.

@cherokeepatti 💯 I'm thankful for the same reasons. I've driven through many icey and heavy snow conditions. Had my share of close calls and witnessed horrific accidents. I'm thankful for the skills I was taught and never involved. Now I just witness on the news.

That's wonderful! He's going to need that truck to get to work after he graduates!

@4meAndyou yes he is and a good set of tools. I hope they give him an itemized list. The teacher gets free tools sometimes from companies (they have advertising on them but are decent tools) and he gives them to the students, he has collected a few so far.

@cherokeepatti Good for him! I hope someone takes him up as an apprentice right away!

Congratulations!

@Sutten He said he didn’t think he would pass it on his first try. I think he was just trying to prepare himself ahead of time in case he didn’t.

@cherokeepatti I'm glad he did. Huge achievement. :)

@Sutten When my older sister came home after passing her test she threw herself down on the bed and cried (hysteronics, which she was good at). When my younger sister passed her driving test she came home and threw herself down on the bed and boo-hooed that she had failed the test (turned left out of the parking lot first thing after the tester asked her to turn right, he told her to turn around at the next drive and go back to the testing headquarter building..because she was so nervous that she couldn’t understand instructions). When I came home after passing my test first attempt I said “I passed the test”…no hysteronics. The boy was about the same way as me.
