Ford, GM, Chrysler, etc.

Can you please just build dumb cars again and build them to last? I don’t need a vehicle that is smarter than the driver. Okay? Let me figure out where I am and where I’m going. I got this. No data collecting and no sending that data to anyone please. It ain’t nobody’s business how I drive or where I’m going. I don’t need a car that brakes for me. It’s dangerous and doesn’t work like intended. Lose all the sensors please. It’s ridiculous that consumers should have to pay more than 10,000 or 25,000 dollars for a new car or truck. You spend all this money trying to make your vehicles smarter and supposedly safer while you use cheap plastic and glue to hold them together and then you have recalls forever because they fall apart around us and barely last until the warranty expires. What do you know 3000 miles past the 100,000 mile warranty and the transmission goes out. 6,000 dollars for a new transmission and the dealership transmission tech doesn’t even know how to diagnose whats wrong. Oh it needs a new transmission of course! High time you get your act together fellas.

I agree! Now they have 50,000 buttons in the car you have to figure out what they're all for before you can even put the windshield wipers on. And heaven help us find the defroster in the dead of winter. Some have engines in the trunk! You don't know if you're coming or going anymore. And God forbid if you get behind one. It could give anyone a heart attack.

The Ford giveth, and the Ford taketh away.

I 100% agree and I've never known or driven cars that weren't full of computers doing everything.

However - (when they actually work) they are hugely more fuel efficient (and powerful) than they used to be. Yes one can't so easily service an engine, especially service it oneself, but it's far less likely to break down and is much more efficient meantime. We can't have everything I suppose :(

Exactly. My Grand Cherokee is in the shop for 2 recalls, needs a new battery, and the def filter says 100% full. I have a bunch of stuff to sell that is unused and I'm gonna either trade or come up with the money for something old like a box chevy.

@minoltaguy
I think the third recall they should have to buy it back from you.

I had the opportunity to drive a Chev rental truck on an 18 hour trip. I had a couple of other drivers with me so we took turns driving the 2025 pickup. At the end of the trip all the drivers agreed. We would not be buying one of these trucks should the opportunity arise. Way too complicated to even turn on the radio. I think it had radio. I couldn't find it so????
I agree 100%. We don't need all those bells and whistles! In the old days you could just lift the hood and work on the car but now you've got a computer system to deal with. It's ridiculous. The worst part is the parts cost of Fortune!

I completely agree with you! 😠
The rams and the jeeps with the recalls are hell.

@MyMonstersAreReal An aquauntance of mine had so many troubles with their Jeep that they hired a lawyer and are trying to get their money back under the Lemon Law. They bought it new. That first year it only spent 45 days on the road.

Yeah...let's go retro. No more stupid computers inside the cars. Let the mechanics fix the mechanical issues without all that interference!

@4meAndyou Exactly! Thank you!
