I'll be honest, I'm upset with the auto shop.

I wanted them to check to see if the key starter is broken and draining my battery. Yesterday they tell me the battery is dead and the starter is fine.

Today they tell me they're both no good. I wanted them to fix the starter before it killed my battery I just bought a month ago... and now I have to potentially pay money to replace both

Hopefully I can get the warranty
understandable, but if it's any consolation, I'm not sure that of the battery was that close to dead that there's anything that could be done for it. I'd try taking the battery back where you got it, get them to test it themselves and replace or possibly charge it for you (if it's really wrecked, they won't be able to get it to hold a charge, but usually there's a warranty on new batteries - short of putting them on reverse polarity to jump or getting them to explode somehow, you shouldn't be able to kill one within a month, I'd think.)

@stound yeah, I've got to go do that today. I should be able to get the warranty on it I think

I usually go with AutoZone parts. Yet I usually do the work myself. Starter is not that hard to replace. Heck I have even replaced the water pump once. AutoZone parts always have a warranty. Even if it's not their brand.

@DeWayfarer The difficulty kind of depends on where it is situated.

@CestManan i believe he has a older SUV. Not certain here. Not like my tiny old Datsun b110. Of course the mercury monarch was a heck of a lot easier. It was a virtual, solid steel, tank. And steered like a tank.

@DeWayfarer That's where I bought my battery. I'd rather do the installation for all this myself but I'm not much of a car guy.

I've only ever changed my own battery
