Okay car people, please help me out...

I'm trying to buy a used car. So far I've narrowed my choices down to a 2015 Acura TLX (18k miles) and a 2023 Nissan Sentra S (8k miles). Both are in the same price range. At first glance, the Nissan seems to be a better option, but all the people I've talked to recommended me to get Acura over Nissan any day. Why is that? And also, which one should I choose? Please enlighten me. 😢

Both of them have reports of transmission issues, but overall, the Acura reviews are much better than the Nissan's. I'd want to get the transmissions looked at before buying either one of them, but after that, it's more of the one you want than anything.

I will say that the Acura has a great track record for being a car you can drive for 150-200k miles with proper maintenance.

@Ontheroad Thank you! So how would I know if the transmission has issues when I look at it?

@LiLShrimp Before buying the car, call a local transmission shop and tell them you want to get it checked for a possible transmission problem. Then tell the dealer you have concerns with reported problems on that make and model car, and want to have it checked. It may cost you a hundred or so, but it's worth the cost. The dealer may offer to check it for you, and if they put it in writing guaranteeing it's okay, then you can do it that way.
