Prius pre-tune up advice needed, appointment tomorrow...

I am about to pay $700 for a specialty shop tune up and I don't think I can do this. It feels like a SUCKER-PUNCH! And that doesn't include changing spark plugs. So why is this so expensive? I never maintained my cars but the S.O. is gone now and I am on my own. No car-friends, no one to call for anything...

Serious rip off pending I think. Who knows about these cars and where to go for a more reasonable price? Do you think an all-purpose regular garage is trustworthy? I don't really think so. Many problems with such places in the past. The S.O. always took it to the specialty shop for oil changes and never got any other service, but he was a car expert and race car fan.

My car is a 2012 Prius and running well. I only wanted the tune up in case I needed to do some long distance driving and I'm alone in the world now with no car repair/maintenance expertise.

I know this sounds silly and panick-y...but so is being alone in the world and I cant call on anyone for anything now. Please don't snark me out for being unprepared. Death is a serious wake up call but I was never a car-person even with his help and advice.

@RedBaron ya know, I've been away so long I forgot most people here are like everyone else, ready to smack up any one close and laugh madly while stumbling away. SHAME ON YOU AS*****!!!
So the thing about hybrid engines is, you've got two engines under your hood. You've got your internal combustion engine, and you've got your electric engine. Both of them need regular maintenance. That's why it's more expensive.

No, I don't know the specifics.
