The clever mechanic put too much coolant in my car

and it caused some smoke. I took it to him to ask why it did this and he said nothings wrong. I was like “yeah right” in my mind but I couldn’t wait to get out of that place with snotty mechanics. I went to another place with good reviews and the guy looked under my hood and asked me if I added the coolant. I said no way. He must have thought it was me because it’s a stupid thing to do for a professional mechanic. I told him the mechanic from the popular company did that. He took out the extra coolant with a tube and I’m glad he actually had a mechanic brain to know what was the problem. Ugh, too much coolant can cause burning in the engine.

Yah, that first mechanic was not too swift. They should have known better. I would have been so angry.

The first mechanic was a nightmare and he wasn’t even friendly. I wish I never went to him in the first place. @LadyGrace I was extremely upset and confused about how they did a bad job on my car.

@SW-User thats good there are some good ones im not a liscensed mechanic just a back yard do it yourself kinda guy but did race and build race engines so got a pretty good understanding if most things mechanical the computers and sensors i got no love for though lol

@Whyme they make something soo simple seem like rocket science. If they are licensed and certified then they shouldn’t make detrimental mistakes that can ruin the car. It’s a car we drive not a toy.

@SW-User well yes they do over explain it but so did the one that helped you it wouldnt have ruined your car

i think maybe is the overfill coolant get hot and expand then expell out throught overflow hose when engine reach idea running temperature. The smoke you saw could be coolant evaporate, anyway lucky you notice earlier and you did the right thing.

That’s exactly what it was. Those stupid mechanics almost ruined my car. @UsernameAlreadyInUse

I think it would just leak out the overflow tube until it equalized and stopped, if thats what it was and no other problem it wont damage your car.
Smoke you saw was probably steam.
